OK here are two sad animes. Both anime deal with a boy that falls in with a very sick girl that is dying, does not have much time left and the story is filled with pain. |
| In the Hansuki anime, the girl is in a hospital and needs a heart transplant and does not have much time left, but she falls in love with a young man. Hantsuki means half moon rising. The girl says "hantsuki or half moon" means her time on earth is not long or short, and this is a reference to a heart transplant patient lives on average seven years. |

The case in the Iriya Sora or the "sky of iriya" is not the same. She is a young warrior. Earth is fighting against these alien flying saucers. Sadly, in Iriya Sora we are losing the war. The last human warrior is iriya. Well, she is about to give up. Then she meets this young man. He gives her the strength to go on.
Both stories deal with love and loss, but are full of pain. This is more so in iriya sora. For example there is a at the beginning of the anime a sad song. It reminds us of the love one feels for the other as they look up. Yeah, into an endless sky that is our universe.

Please tell me hat you think of my Hantsuki versus Iriya Sora comparison. In Nebraska which is where Steven Gibbs used to live, people do not often watch anime. Yet, I believe that they show timeless scenarios.
